The project began in early 2022, when the residential community applied for the capital’s greening program. The design process was a collaboration between residents, architects, and the landscape architect, resulting in a multifunctional courtyard with raised planting beds, seating, bike storage, and a sandbox that doubles as a table.

Completed in late summer 2023, the garden has since been maintained by us, together with the tenants, who also received guidance on plant care. This project covered the whole lifecycle of garden design, starting from planning, then construction, and ending with maintenance.

We particularly felt passionate about the project, because we could inject some green oasis into the infamous concrete jungle of district 8th in Budapest. A key aspect of the project was educating tenants on maintaining their new, greener, and more livable environment.

The project won the Szeghalmy Bálint Award from the Hungarian Chamber of Architects (2023) and took 2nd place in the IFLA Europe Students and Young Professionals Competition (2024).
